About the Area
East Anglia is often said to be one of the best places in the country to live when it comes to quality of life and it’s no wonder. Norwich is the capital of a wonderful rural county blessed with some great beaches, picturesque towns and villages, and the natural beauty of the Norfolk Broads.
Norfolk is also a county rich in history and the attractive city of Norwich boasts a Norman castle and one of the finest cathedrals in the country. But there’s more to the area than great scenery and history. Norwich is in the Top 10 shopping cities in the UK, and its shopping reputation continues to grow.
It used to be said the city had a church for every Sunday of the year and a pub for every day of the year. That might not be the case now but it still has a vibrant nightlife, based around the regenerated Riverside area of the city centre.
The city is also proud to be home to a Championship football club that is firmly rooted in the community and works hard to develop its deserved reputation as real family club. Leisure plays a big part in local life and the city has 25 parks, gardens and recreation grounds to choose from, as well as cinemas, theatres and other attractions.
Norwich is also a place of learning and is home to the University of East Anglia, Norwich School of Art & Design, City College Norwich, and many good schools. But the county is also home to some of the biggest movers and shakers in industry; from the world-famous Lotus Cars to global insurance giant Aviva (formerly known as Norwich Union).
