The aim of the Pre-operative Assessment Clinic is to make sure patients are fit for surgery and adequately prepared for their admission to hospital.
Patients will be admitted, whenever possible on the day of surgery to the Same Day Admissions Unit (SDAU) but after their operation they will be transferred to their allocated speciality ward. If there are any medical and/or technical reasons identified it may be necessary to admit some patients the day before surgery.
